MAKING RAYON TUBE SOCKS
Please Note: This tubing is no longer available from ThisOldDoll. Believe me, I've searched but it's just nowhere to be found! Still, the instructions could be useful if you want to start by making your own tubing from flat, knitted fabric. Look for it in knitted Rayon and synthetic summer sweaters and tops, polo shirts or other items of clothing you can find to cut up. Thrift shops and yard sales are great places to look. Then just fold your fabric, run a zig zag stitch about 1.5" to 2.5" from the fold and trim off your tube. Make sure the stitch is zig zag so it will stretch and small enough to make a nice, straight seam without pulls at the stitches. Another tip for fabric is to check WalMart because sometimes they sell remnant bolts of old fabric that might include the sort of knit you'll want for this.
